Service Description

Learn how to be consistently successful during the Passionvine Hopper 'Fall'. - Saturday Wednesday 18th March, 2026. The Passionvine Hopper, (known also as the Lace Moth or Vine Hopper), is a small delta-winged insect common on streamside vegetation during the latter part of summer and autumn. Large numbers often get blown onto the water ... trout love them. Characterised by a splashy take, feeding trout can be seen rising regularly to them. But inspite of often large number of fishing opportunities they can be a frustrating target for many fly fishermen. This is a river-based day course, learning on-the-water fly fishing skills necessary to 'crack the code'. The focus is on selecting effective flies and making accurate casts. It is suitable for anglers who already have sound basic fly-casting skills. Limited to maximum 3 participants. Course Aim: To refine anglers' on-river skills, fishing effective flies in a practical setting. Outcomes: At the conclusion of the day, you will: 1. Have refined your skills in setting up suitable tackle and effective fly selection. 2. Have improved your ability to 'read water' and choose appropriate locations to fish for trout. 3. Have improved your trout spotting ability, fly casting and fly presentation skills. 4. Have (trout willing), improved your trout playing and trout handling abilities. 5. Have a better appreciation of how to improve your skills on future fishing trips. Subject Areas: - On-Stream Entomology. - Effective Rigs and Choosing the Appropriate Fly. - Trout Spotting, - Practical Streamcraft, Practical Fly Presentation, - Practical Hookup and Landing Skills, Practical Catch and Release. TRANSPORT: Course participants will be responsible for their own transport to and from the river. Participants will be advised of the exact location to meet two weeks prior to the course date. PAYMENT: You will be invoiced 10 days prior to the course. Payment details will be included on the invoice.
